Bio

Andrei Cavassi is a world class musician with an incredible cultural heritage. He hails from a long line of classical musicians of Greek, Italian, Hungarian, and Romanian descent. Andrei marks the 4th generation of accomplished artists in his family.

Andrei started studying cello in Bucharest, followed by Zurich and Hamburg, but his most inspiring pedagogical influence came from lessons with Maria Kliegel in Luxembourg.
​
Through the years, his performances have mesmerized audiences on three continents – from the Berliner Philarmonie, to the Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires, to the Blue Note in Tokyo.

Andrei is the winner of the Gold Medal at the Vienna International Music Competition in 2019.

Since 2010, Andrei has based his career out of Japan, often being invited to perform globally. Andrei has an incredible gift for transporting his audiences on a breathtaking musical journey. From the first touch of the cello’s strings, he sweeps audiences to dimensional highs with music that is as versatile as the voice of the cello.

Cavassi has produced and performed several music events in partnership with the Tokyo Metropolitan City Hall. His collaborations have included the official program of the Tokyo Olympics, Unplugged by Andrei Cavassi (100 years of diplomacy between Romania and Japan anniversary event), as well as covering the music programs for Harry Winston Tokyo and the Pirelli Annual Event in Milan.

In recognition of his impressive artistic versatility, Andrei Cavassi was twice appointed World Ambassador for Maison Christian Dior and elected Best Dressed Men at Elle Style Awards in 2018.
